This visitor center is located on a hillside overlooking the famous Shobak castle.
The design of the center followed the character of a Jordanian vernacular village blending in material, color, and masses in the surrounding site in order to keep no visual impact on this sensitive location.
It consists of clusters of stone cubic rooms laid around an open yard, simple indigenous landscape treatments were used to merge the center with the surrounding context. The client was the Ministry of tourism and antiquities and our involvement was the design and preparation of tender documents.
