The project was financed by the world bank, the product work was reviewed and commended by experts from NGOs and World Bank and got exhibited in Washington in 1998 among other exemplary projects of the World Bank.
Touristic development in the form of a new master plan for the historic core of Jerash (the famous Roman city) comprising urban regeneration and adaptive reuse for a number of spaces and buildings in the city center. This area (130 Dunums) is the living core of the city comprising the historic site of Eastern Roman Baths, once used as a bus terminal and associated open market, and the leftover golden river bank. The assignment included the pedestrianization of the area, constructing light structures as a semi-open market place, landscape treatments of the riverside and adaptive reuse of a number of buildings to house some touristic activities.
The proposed touristic function included a three-star hotel, tourist information center, a traditional handicraft center, restaurants, coffee shops, tourism police station, public toilets, gateway, and gardens. The assignment also included an environmental impact assessment study.
