This project is located in Nweijis area in Amman, the main features of the site include:

  • Nweijis Palace. (An archaeological mausoleum)
  • Existing archaeological collections storage hanger (operated by Department of Antiquities).
  • Natural cave use for storage.

The scope of services included the design of a modern specialized facility for the storage of the national artifact collections and a specialized research center in one building comprising all related services such as the library, lecture hall, research facilities, special collections exhibition hall, and the administration of the center. An important part of the project is an urban plaza for Nweijis palace visitors at the front of the site and a mosaic restoration/production workshop.

The main building consists of two floors:
A - Basement floor with built-up area of 4737.00 sq.m., it contains the main storages for all the collections categories: (1) Stones artifacts, (2) Pottery artifacts, (3) Mosaic artifacts, (4) Metals artifacts, (5)Glass artifacts, and (6) Bones, ivory and organic materials artifacts storage
B- Ground floor with a built-up area of 1500 sq.m., it includes the research and administration facilities, in addition to an open archaeological roof garden for the open exhibition of large scale pieces.
