Minister of Health Dr. Saad Jaber has opened PRINCESS RAHMA PEDIATRIC HOSPITAL RENOVATION AND EXPANSION in Irbid Governorate.
The cost of expansion and modernization of the two phases, which are around 4,700 square meters, reached $ 16 million, in addition to the constructing a new building with an area of 5,000 square meters.
The opening was attended by Dr.Jaber, as a representative of Prime Minister Omar Al-Razzaz, as well as Karen Sasahara from the in Amman and a representative of the Ministry of Public Works and Housing.
The duration of the project reached 4 years, as it aims to increase hospital capacity by 35% and expand the range of services available to patients and their families.
The new facilities are an essential point for providing services to the local population and Syrian refugees, as it is the only hospital specializing in pediatrics in the northern governorates.
Jaber added that the process of development, modernization and expansion of the health service is continuing, as the Ministry's plan for the governorate of Irbid for the years 2018-2022 included the establishment, expansion, development, modernization, rehabilitation and maintenance of many health centers.
"The renovation of Princess Rahma Hospital with an area of 4,700 square meters is established. A new building for the hospital with an area of 5500 square meters has already been constructed in the first stage and included equipping the departments with the latest medical equipment and modern equipment and providing them with qualified and efficient cadres in recovery, emergency, radiology, scientific and patient rooms," according to Dr. Jaber.
The director of Princess Rahma Children's Hospital, Dr. Taha Al-Tamimi said that the hospital was opened in 1994 and with the completion of the construction of this project, the number of beds increased in the hospital to 163 after it previously was expanded to (112) beds distributed on pediatrics, surgery, thalassemia, leukemia, hemophilia, psychological and prematurity and served all age groups of children, incubators will increase from 32 to 42 incubators as well.
